The Untold Legend of the Batman

Now that Nolan's Dark Knight series has completely come and gone, and with the FANTASTIC news of a Superman vs. Batman movie coming out, I decided to take a look back at a real source of my knowledge of Batman around the time of the Tim Burton film.

It was during this time that, after what could have been roughly a half hour of in store temper tantrum, my mother was kind enough to get me this 3-part series on book and tape. The Untold Legend of the Batman.

This is a read along of sorts, something that was quite common throughout my childhood. However, what made this one different from the other read alongs (which were usually about movies), this one was from a previously published comic mini-series. And was, perhaps, some of the first comic stories I've ever read.

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

For a very long time, this was Batman's comic voice in my head that I would hear reading it to myself. Same goes for the fantastic theme song in the begining. Hell, all the music in this is absolutely fantastic, not to mention nostalgic as all get out!

But there are some concepts that I thought were just fine at the time, but now I find ridiculous. The coincidence of Bruce Wayne's father having created a VERY simillar bat costume well before his death was a little ridiculous, but the idea that Bruce Wayne was the original Robin is just WIERD.
